Short Animation: The Digital Is Never Deleted

Class: Computer Technology

Duration: 10 weeks

Software: Unreal Engine 4, After Effect, Premiere Pro

Work Type: Partner with Morgan Jacobs, Cullen Yoshihiko Fu

Complete Time: 6/05/2021

Instructor: Nathan Su

Description:

Within “The Digital is Never Deleted” a world of accidental removals and items deemed unnecessary or not good enough lies the Collection of Curiosities, a microcosm of the world at large. Various items, texts, images, and data are found and interrogated either alone or in mass. The role of this is to act as a springboard for questions about how and what we use the digital world for. Curated by the creators of the world what’s selected shows more than 2 & 3D information but spans AI and metadata information in the process.

Outside of the law and without guides an ever-expansive slew of never creations is ripe for investigation. Organized by past investigators enclaves left behind lightly direct your movement through a non-place without borders but full of edges. The digital is never deleted. Here the deleted are repurposed as the new indicator of the past and the living, repurposing, and recycling. Justifying their own existence on display shows a mass of our creations and neglect.

Project Animation - Oxnard Ferry Terminal (Fake Future)

Subject Studio- 10 weeks

Software: Rhino, Lumion, Premiere Pro

Partner with Nickson Chan

6/12/2021

Instructor: Georgina Huljich

Description:

The project focuses on dealing with the future rising sea level of Oxnard, California by using high technology. The Ferry Terminal as the new form of sustainable architecture in the future utilizes and transforms marine waste as its own constructional material and structure, so as to achieve a state of symbiosis of waste plant and ferry terminal.

The waste plant combined with the ferry terminal is an ever-evolving part of the urban landscape. It was elevated above the ground on pilotis, in anticipation of radical change. Over time, soil erosion and rising sea level had made an impact on the earth. Along with the strong and sustainable building structures of the waste plant, an additional artificial ground is constructed to safeguard the site. A void, now found between the earth and the waste plant, provides a place for taking ferries.

Project Video - Tuvalu Airport in 2061 (Fake History)

Subject Studio- 10 weeks

Software: After Effect, Premiere Pro

Partner with Yufei Liang

3/18/2021

Instructor: Kutan Ayata

Description:

The project speculatively imagined the future of Tuvalu(a sinking island in the Pacific Ocean) 40 years after 2021 based on a large number of research and the actual climate crisis of this country:

In 2061, Funafuti Island, the capital of Tuvalu, would be the land where most of the population of Tuvalu lives. The specific land position and the ring shape of the island cultivate the floating living districts in the lagoon. Facing climate change, the reconstruction and replanning will use the large lagoon, leaving landfills to infrastructures, while pushing human dwellings into the inner water.

All the infrastructures are accessible by a paved roadway all around the island. The most popular one will be a versatile gateway built for a New Airport as an intersection point of a shuttle station, ferry terminal, and the culture performance center to display the treasures of Tuvalu to visitors. The terminal Architecture optimizes travelers' experience, aids in their orientation on Tuvalu, and promotes positive personal interaction and commercial exchange - promoting the island's people, their story, and future potential.
